Working in Äkäskero

We are proud to have an international crew here in Äkäskero. This naturally promotes a continual input and exchange of various knowledge, experience and ideas which can be integrated into our work, giving us the opportunity to further develop ourselves. If you would like to work in the far north, you can apply at any time. We expect applicants to be flexible, able to fit into a team and willing to take responsibility.

In our Sledge Dog Center we employ Dog Handlers, Sledge Dog Guides, Snow Mobile Guides, a Carpenter and Allrounder able to carry out all necessary practical work arising in the Camp. In the Lodge our employees are responsible for the Reception, kitchen, service and cleaning work. A bus driver is responsible for all necessary transfers of our guests.

Out of consideration for our dogs, and to meet the quality entitlement of our guests, all Sledge Dog Guides must first complete our own comprehensive training programme, over a period of several months, before we employ them. During this training period they learn everything necessary pertaining to their work with the dog teams and to leading tours with our guests, becoming competent and qualified as Sledge Dog Guides.
