The starting point is the Äkäskero Sledge Dog Center. After a short introduction about sledge dogs – we may even take some dogs with us – we set out on our walk along a circular route through the area surrounding the Sledge Dog Center. We will see nests of golden eagles and ospreys, find places where bears hibernate during the winter and learn a great deal about Lappland’s natural treasures. Often it will be possible to observe various birds (swans, wild geese, eagles, ducks, sea swallow), sometimes even a moose or reindeer and, if we're lucky, even otters may be sighted.

Those participants who have never been canoeing, will first take part in a two-hour basic course. After learning the necessary techniques we will canoe in the Äkäsjoki, from its origin at Äkäsmylly right down to the sacrificial arena of the Samen at Äkässaivo.

River Rafting
The longest natural river in Europe, the Muonion-Tornionjoki, is the center point of our rafting trip. After our transfer by bus, we will spend several hours on the river experiencing its many rapids. Underway, there will be the opportunity to do some fishing and we will stop off at an island to make a camp fire and take a well-earned break.

Mushroom and Berry Excursion
Under expert guidance you will learn how to define and gather the mushrooms and berries of Lapland. These can then either be prepared by our cook, can be sold to the Lodge or can be frozen for you to take home.

Mountain Bike Tour to an Old Gold Mine
This tour will take us to the now abandoned gold mine in Satoporo. For those who are interested, there will be hammers available so that you can try your hand at looking for minerals. In a small river we will try panning for gold, where the chances are high that you will find some gold dust. On request the tour can take a circular route, which has a more difficult final section.

Angling Course
The Pekanjärvi is well known for its large quantities of rainbow trout, pikes, perches and whitefish. We will learn the basics of Angling, the various types of baits, etc. Following the principle ‘catch and release’ any fish caught are released back into the river.

Other Activities
Visit to a reindeer farm, gold panning, Icelandic horse riding, medicinal herb courses, crossbow shooting, net fishing, hiking with sledge dogs etc. You can book and pay for the activities you want to participate in here on site.
