Husky Village cabins

Husky Village backpackers & hostel – If you love dogs you’ll love it here

Psst! Summer time is puppy season…

Note! There are no saunas available at the Husky Village cabins during the summer season 2020!

  • 1 night per person €35
  • 1 week per person €230

At the Husky Village you stay in one of the modern cabins in a shared 2 person room, in a 6 room cabin. You are right by the kennels and can see (and hear!) the dogs from your window.  As we are located right by the Pallas-Ylläs National Park, the surrounding nature is ample in options for summer and autumn time activities, such as hiking, canoeing, fishing, using the ATV/Quad, picking mushrooms and berries, walking with the dogs and much more. You can also help with the kennel work if you like, and learn more about the dogs and their care. You can cuddle particularly our seniors to your hearts content, they love it.

The closest town and supermarket is 20 km away in Äkäslompolo. If you do not have a car, we have a pick up service for € 30 per person from Äkäslompolo (includes taking you back as well). We also pick up from Muonio. The restaurant is closed during summer season, but we rent a car for grocery shopping purposes for €0,30/km, gas included. We have a bar at the reception and communal area.

The Husky Village cabins do not have saunas yet, but all cabins have a fireplace to create a cosy atmosphere into the nightless night.

How to get here with public transport:

  • Train from Helsinki to Kolari or Train from Helsinki to Rovaniemi
  • Buses from Kolari to Muonio or Kolari to Äkäslompolo
  • Buses from Rovaniemi to Muonio
  • We can pick you up from either town with the pick up service
  • Check trains here: vr.fi, and buses here: matkahuolto.fi

Summer at the Husky Village

Summer time is all about relaxing and enjoying the surround nature and the company of our dogs. From about middle of August onwards the training of the race-team starts and from middle of October on we train our dogs for the winter season. It is the ideal time to learn much more about the dogs, the training, feeding and how to get a great team of sled dogs. The training is mainly done by ATV, kickbike and cart. As soon as possible we try to train with the sled but of course, this is depending on the snow. Our dogs have been trained hundreds of kilometers before the tourism-season starts.
