Meet Frozen,born in 2014
This was probably his last winter of being an active runner on week tour.Our boy will have to start resting and training younger puppies.

She will start running this coming winter of 2024/2025
Wickey,was born in 2023.

They seem to be ready though. But they did not run this winter that is coming to an end but they did train.

Sie war so toll
Even we are still in high season we are already working on the future. Iduna, daughter of Jazza and Kenai will get puppies in a few weeks. Father is Moijero out of Upea and Tonttu. Both parents are born 2020 and great dogs.

Ich denke gerne an meine Woche dort zurück. Ist leider schon viel zulange her. Beat und Rena waren die Camp/Lodgemanager.
Es waren super schöne Tage
Wir haben es dort nur im Dunklen erlebt, und es war noch die ‚ungemütlichste‘ Hütte, vielleicht genau weil es Strom gab?! Wir denken soooo gerne an unsere Woche bei euch zurück, es war DER Urlaub unseres Lebens! Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder!
Electricity was at Tiurajärvi, wasn't it? 🤔 I hope I remembered the name right. The mökki at Kangosjärvi is lovely too, though 🤩
Since when is there a big window and electricity at Kangosjärvi?

Report from Yle: Finland’s largest grocery retailer, the S Group, reported soaring profits last year. Its operating result for 2023 was 447 million euros, up by 37.5 percent from the previous year – while consumers saw food prices rise throughout the year.
The S Group's pre-tax retail sales grew by 5.5 percent from the previous year, totalling 14.2 billion euros.
Now I understand, why tomatoes cost up to 23 Euro per kg and cucumber more then 5 Euro per kg. The food market in Finland (and Sweden) is manimpulated by few companies. No competition at all.

Last weeks had been a bit demanding. Temperatures from +3 to minus 38, snowfall with wind and all trails blown over. We are back in minus 32 and beautiful sunshine

In 2012, we had -41 on Sunday and 0 on next Saturday... I remember this feeling of warm at 0 😅
Temperatures are already much more comfortable. "Only" -30 feels ok when it was -40 before. If the weatherforecast is right it will be +2 on Monday... The Arctic Redpoll already comes for food

Last days had been pretty much in the minus degrees. So we have to stop for a few times to let people walk a bit in deep snow to warm up. Actually the coldest - many years back - we run tours had been below 50. So 40 seems to be quite ok

All the best for 2024. The new year welcomes us with a bit of low temperatures which might even drop to the minus 40. This is also promissing as the sky will be mostly clear and we will see the first sun after a month.

Almost exact 38 years ago - on my first day driving dog sledges - my handle bar did crash like the photo shows, without any droppings. Old Äkäskero guests may remember old Gerd. He did fix the sledge - as far it was possible in the swampy region - I got his one - he did drive home with the broken utility.
Ich sehe, das ist eines der neuen Modelle. Doch nicht einer von denen, die ich im Sommer gebaut habe🙈
We are busy with the season already started, the weather being a bit challanging but we take the time to train our puppies in a soft way to make them great sleddogs

Meine Güte, ich erinnere mich noch an meine erste Überquerung des Kangosjärvo. Hatte mich so etwas von verfahren und wurde per Handy gelotst. Passt alle auf euch auf und geniesst die Saison.

A palm day to run a team on the 22 km. Being on the brack all time to keep them in a nice trott. Some fresh snow helps to keep them slower than they like.
